CustomWeather combines meteorological expertise with current and emerging technology to create innovative, syndicated, low-cost weather tools.
I wanted to create a system that would set Custom Weather apart from more traditional weather companies like the Weather Channel. By choosing a familiar and powerful weather icon, and then creating a fun, spacious, and clean design to support the normally ominous and inaccesible tornado, I wanted to communicate the idea that weather is and should be interesting and dynamic.

Interface Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer of modular carpet, which it markets under the InterfaceFLOR, FLOR, and Bentley Prince Street brands. Bentley Prince Street is also a leader in the designer-quality broadloom carpet market. Interface is committed to sustainability and to doing business in ways that minimize the impact on the environment.
I concepted and delivered web solutions for all of Interface’s web properties. Solutions included ecommerce enabling their commercial business, delivering a global brand site, and providing emarketing and sales support through microsites and co-branded sales sites.

Grokker is software developed by aliens to give earthlings enlightenment — not really — but it was ahead of its time and it was inspired by Robert A. Heinlein’s sci-fi novel Stranger in a Strange Land.
Grokker was a web-based enterprise search management platform that accesses information from disparate data stores with one search. It then auto-categorizes the information into an interactive visual format that allows users to explore thousands of results in minutes. It lets them Grok (fully understand) their (re)search topic.
Grokker’s key hook is in its visual display of search information. I wanted to convey the “coolness” and organic feel of the product’s display in the corporate identity and branding.

Videos Now was an e-tailer that sold new and rare videos. I designed the logo/brand and the final production website. I also created a prototype site that helped the ecommerce storefront land a spot on the AOL network (this was a good thing in 1998).
Even though the company no longer exists as of 1999, I still like the work and feel it holds up even after all this time and demonstrates that I have been producing ecommerce sites for many years.
